In a distressing incident reported on Friday, a woman and her two sons allegedly committed suicide by hanging at their residence in the Kalkaji area of Southeast Delhi. Police sources attribute the drastic step to severe financial hardship and an ongoing property dispute.

Discovery Of The Bodies

The incident came to light around 2:45 pm when a court official arrived at the family's residenceHouse No. B-70, G Block, Kalkaji, to serve a legal notice. Despite repeated knocking and ringing of the doorbell, there was no response from inside.

Suspecting something was amiss, the official alerted the Kalkaji police station. A police team arrived at the scene and found the main gate locked from the inside. They engaged a locksmith to open the door using a duplicate key. Upon entering the premises, officers discovered the bodies of all three family members hanging from a ceiling fan.

Victim Details

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East District) identified the deceased as:

  • 52-year-old Anuradha Kapoor
  • 32-year-old Ashish Kapoor
  • 27-year-old Chaitanya Kapoor

The bodies were immediately taken down and rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. They have since been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Investigation And Suicide Note

During the initial search of the room, investigators recovered a suicide note, which has been seized as evidence. The note reportedly states that the family was under immense mental stress due to acute financial crises and the looming loss of their home.

Background Of The Dispute

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Kapoor family was involved in a legal dispute with a neighbor regarding the ownership of their house. The opposing party had recently won the lawsuit, leading the court to issue an order for the house to be vacated.

According to sources, the court official who visited the house on Friday afternoon had arrived specifically to deliver the eviction notice. The police are currently conducting a further investigation into the matter.
