Delhi Weather Today: Delhi is under an IMD alert for the third day in a row due to dense fog and chilling temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has anticipated a drop in Delhi’s temperature on Sunday, January 4, which is likely to contribute to sharper chills and intensify the daily struggles of residents amid deteriorating air quality.
The IMD has anticipated similar weather conditions in NCR districts like Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad, placing them on a yellow alert.

Delhi-NCR Weather Today: Orange Alert For Very Dense Fog
According to the weather forecast bulletin by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature is likely to fall by 2 degrees Celsius in the next few hours. The IMD has issued an orange alert for dense to very dense fog at many places across the city, and the sky is expected to remain clear. The minimum temperature today is expected to drop from yesterday’s 8 degrees Celsius, and range between 8 to 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
The sky is expected to remain clear in the Neighbouring Capital Region (NCR), like Gurgram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, with dense fog expected in early morning hours on Sunday. Hence, the IMD has placed all four cities on a yellow alert.
Delhi-NCR Weather Forecast: Yellow Alert Amid Intensifying Cold
- While temperature is expected to drop today, the IMD anticipates that the minimum temperature will bounce back in the next 3 days, bringing it to the normal level.
- Shallow to moderate fog is expected in the city for the next few days, with minimum temperatures expected to recover and range from 6 to 9 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
- The trend of increase in minimum temperature in the coming days will be slightly disturbed on January 6th, but is likely to be normal thereafter.
