In a significant move against organized crime in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Delhi Police Crime Branch has executed a major crackdown on the syndicate led by Sandeep alias Kala Jathedi. The police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the gang, arresting key members, aides, and shooters.
1. Details Of The Arrests
The operation targeted individuals responsible for providing shelter, weapons, and ammunition to the gang. The arrested accused have been identified as:
- Sandeep alias Kala Jathedi (Gang Leader)
- Anil Rohilla alias Chippi
- Abhishek Dahiya alias Mohit alias Rajesh
- Jugesh alias Yogi
- Rohit Lathar
Police are currently interrogating the arrested individuals. However, a hunt is underway for Aman Lathar, a crucial member of the syndicate who is currently absconding and is believed to be living abroad.
2. Official Statement And Objective
According to Joint Commissioner of Police Surender Kumar, this operation is part of an intensified campaign by the Crime Branch to identify, target, and dismantle interstate criminal syndicates operating in Delhi-NCR.
3. Gang Profile: From Revenge To Organised Crime
Investigations revealed that the gang initially formed with the specific motive of avenging the murders of its founding members' families. Over time, it transformed into a full-fledged organized criminal syndicate. The gang generates revenue through various illegal activities, including:
- Contract killings and murders.
- Extortion.
- Illegal liquor business.
- Settling land disputes through intimidation.
4. The Trigger Case
The current crackdown stems from a case registered on November 9 last year.
The Complaint: A victim reported receiving a ransom demand via an internet call from a person named Jani, claiming to be a member of the Kala Jathedi gang.
Investigation: The probe revealed this was a pre-planned conspiracy orchestrated by the Kala Jathedi syndicate. Consequently, Section 3 of MCOCA was invoked.
Arrest Timeline: Following the investigation, the team first arrested Jugesh and Rohit Lathar. Subsequently, Sandeep alias Kala Jathedi, Anil Rohilla and Abhishek Dahiya were taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing as police continue their efforts to apprehend the absconding accused, Aman Lathar.
