The Delhi Police have finalised comprehensive security and crowd management arrangements for the Dussehra celebrations scheduled for tomorrow, October 2, in East Delhi. Shahdara District Deputy Commissioner of Police, Prashant Gautam, outlined the strategy to ensure a safe festival for all attendees.
To prevent any incidents, the police have issued specific instructions and contingency plans:
Safety Cordons: Ramlila committees have been directed to create a secure cordon around the areas where effigies will be burnt, ensuring the public remains at a safe distance.
Entry Closure: Authorities have stated that if the police determine a crowd has become excessive and poses a safety risk, they will close entry to the celebration venues.
Security And Surveillance Deployment
DCP Gautam confirmed that robust security arrangements are in place for the event:
Personnel: In addition to a heavy deployment of Delhi Police personnel, paramilitary forces will also be stationed at key locations.
Aerial Surveillance: The entire area will be under constant watch through drones.
CCTV Monitoring: A network of CCTV cameras has been installed at the Ramlila sites, with the live feed being monitored from a central police control room.
On-Site Support: PCR vans will be stationed at the venues for rapid response.
Traffic And Parking Advisory
Due to the large crowds expected for the festival, vehicles will not be permitted to approach the celebration venues. The police have advised the public to park their vehicles at a designated distance and walk to the grounds to avoid congestion.
