In preparation for the winter season, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has initiated a project to install 250 temporary tents for the homeless across the national capital. A tender worth Rs 3.41 crore has been issued for the setup and maintenance of these shelters.
According to the tender details, the tents will be waterproof and fire-resistant to ensure safety and comfort during the cold months. Each tent will be equipped with essential facilities, including a wooden platform, beds, mattresses, first-aid kits, firefighting equipment, a water storage system for fire safety, and four rechargeable LED lanterns.

The contract period for the project is 120 days. The selected agency will be responsible for supplying and maintaining the tents in accordance with DUSIB’s standards.
To ensure proper upkeep, the Deputy Director (Night Shelter) of DUSIB will conduct inspections at least once every fortnight, with any deficiencies required to be resolved within two days.

Officials said the setup of the tents is scheduled to begin on November 15, ahead of the peak winter period.
