To boost tourism, the Delhi government is considering relaunching the Bed and Breakfast (B&B) scheme, which allows tourists to stay in people's homes. The Delhi government is studying Goa's policy in this regard.
Since the launch of the Delhi government's bed and breakfast scheme, over 2,200 rooms in 432 homes across the national capital were registered under it until 2023. Due to lack of publicity, the scheme was discontinued in 2024. "We are considering relaunching the scheme," said a senior Delhi government official, as quoted by jagran.com.
Delhi Govt Studying Goa’s Policy
The Delhi government is studying Goa's homestay and bed and breakfast policy to improve it by adding new features. Goa's scheme provides financial incentives and support to locals running homestays in remote areas.

Under this scheme, visitors are provided with home-like, affordable accommodation and meals. The current Delhi scheme does not provide financial assistance.
Delhi's Bed and Breakfast Scheme was launched in 2007. Under this scheme, the Delhi government registered people who wanted to convert their homes into bed and breakfast units within 30 days. The scheme provided visitors with affordable home-like accommodation and meals. The official stated that the Bed and Breakfast Scheme had several shortcomings, which will be addressed during its re-implementation.

What Is Goa's Homestay And Bed And Breakfast Scheme?
Most homestays in Goa are run by women. This scheme improves their economic status and increases their participation in tourism. Homestays operating in Sattari, Sange, Dharbandora, Bicholim, Cancon, Ponda, and Quepem talukas receive a one-time financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh. Additionally, training, marketing assistance, and discounted participation in tourism fairs are also provided.
