Delhi Weather Update: The national capital shivered on Thursday morning as a biting chill swept across the city, with Delhi recording its lowest minimum temperature of the year so far and the third lowest of the winter season. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Safdarjung observatory registered 5.8 degrees Celsius, 1.1 degrees Celsius below the seasonal average, making it the third coldest night of the winter season after December 4 and 5, when temperatures had dipped to 5.6 degrees Celsius.
Delhi Weather: Temperatures Below Normal
Among the other monitoring stations, Palam recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 4.8 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees Celsius below normal, marking one of the chilliest mornings in the national capital this winter. Lodhi Road recorded a minimum temperature of 6.1 degrees Celsius, while Ridge and Ayanagar both recorded 5.8 degrees Celsius.

The weather department also reported no rainfall in the national capital during the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM.
Delhi Records Third Consecutive Cold Day
The national capital has been under the grip of severe cold weather this week. Delhi recorded its first cold day of the year on January 6, when the maximum temperature fell to 15.7 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees Celsius below normal, while the minimum settled at 7.6 degrees Celsius.
Cold day conditions persisted on Wednesday, with the maximum temperature recorded at 16.7 degrees Celsius, 2.3 degrees Celsius below the seasonal average, and the minimum at 8.6 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees Celsius below normal, the IMD said.
As per the weather department, cold day conditions are declared when the minimum temperature drops below 10 degrees Celsius, and the maximum remains 4.5 to 6.4 degrees Celsius below the seasonal normal.
Delhi Weather Tomorrow
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, warning that cold day conditions accompanied by moderate to dense fog are likely to prevail on Friday, January 9. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 17 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to fall to 6 degrees Celsius, intensifying the chill.
