A horrific accident occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway early Friday morning, claiming the lives of two people. At approximately 5:00 am, a dumper truck broke through the railing of a flyover and plunged onto the road below, resulting in a severe fire.
The Incident
The accident took place at Bridge Number 55, near Goojar Nangla village. The dumper was returning to Rajasthan after unloading stones in Delhi.
The Crash: The vehicle, moving at speed, crashed through the flyover's safety railing and fell onto the service road below.
The Impact: The impact was so severe that the heavy vehicle broke into two pieces and immediately caught fire. The fire raged for several hours.
Casualties
Both the driver and the cleaner of the vehicle lost their lives in the accident. They were identified as residents of Nili village, Rajasthan.
The Driver: Local residents managed to pull the 55-year-old driver out of the wreckage in a critically injured state. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The Cleaner: 18-year-old cleaner was trapped inside the cabin as the vehicle burst into flames and tragically burned to death at the scene.
Cause And Response
Suspected Cause: Preliminary reports suggest the driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the loss of control.
Emergency Response: Witnesses reported a significant delay in the arrival of the fire brigade, allowing the fire to engulf the vehicle for hours before it was extinguished.
