After many years, a meeting of the Animal Welfare Board was held at the Delhi Secretariat, where several important decisions were made. The biggest decision is a plan to microchip about 1 million (10 lakh) street dogs in Delhi over the next two years, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

After the meeting, Delhi government's Cabinet Minister, Kapil Mishra, spoke to reporters. He said that a "Delhi State Action Plan against Rabies" will be presented soon. He confirmed that everyone agreed on the plan to microchip about 1 million street dogs with the help of the UNDP.
