The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has arrested a woman who was on the run in several cases. This woman is from the Nand Nagri area in Delhi, and her name is Sunita. She has cases against her under the Excise Act (related to alcohol) and MCOCA (a law against organized crime).
According to the police, Sunita has been part of an organized criminal gang for over thirty years that sells illegal liquor and drugs. She was officially declared a fugitive by the Karkardooma court on December 21st of last year.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Harsh Indora, explained that on September 8th, Head Constable Pramod Kumar received a secret tip that the woman was coming to Virender Nagar to meet some of her associates. Based on this information, a team was formed under the supervision of ACP Rajpal Dabas and led by Inspector Pawan Singh. The team set a trap and caught the woman in Virender Nagar.
During questioning, it was revealed that she was born into the Sahasi community in Raghubir Nagar and, over time, became involved with an organised gang that buys and sells illegal marijuana (ganja) and smack.
