Prof Mazhar Asif, the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, has strongly condemned the car explosion that occurred near Delhi's Red Fort on November 10. He described the incident as a "brutal and heinous act of terrorism" aimed at targeting innocent civilians and endangering national security.
In this hour of crisis, Prof Asif stated that Jamia stands firmly with the Government of India in its "unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards all forms and manifestations of terrorism."
Expressing condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack, the Vice-Chancellor said that at a time when India is being seen as a global example of non-violence and peace, "such terrorist incidents will not be able to shake our firm resolve and patriotism in the slightest. We will move forward with even greater determination."
He further stated that such acts of terror are against the values and principles of peace, harmony, and unity, which "this great nation and our rich civilisation have long upheld." He added that this message has been propagated throughout the world by Indian philosophers and thinkers since ancient times, and in the present day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
