Delhi MCD Bypoll Results 2025: The results of the bypolls held in 12 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) wards were declared on Wednesday. According to the State Election Commission, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won seven seats and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bagged three wards. The Congress also opened its account in the civic body. Arvind Kejriwal, AAP national convenor and former Delhi chief minister, said the results show that public trust is returning to AAP in just 10 months.

Kejriwal, in an X post, said, "In this corporation by-election, this time the Aam Aadmi Party fielded its dedicated workers in the electoral arena, and the people of Delhi have made it clear through their mandate that the public support for Delhi is continuously strengthening towards the AAP. In just 10 months, the public's trust is once again rapidly returning towards the Aam Aadmi Party. Delhi is very soon returning towards positive politics and good works."
Rekha Gupta-Led BJP Wins Seven Seats
The MCD bypolls were seen as a litmus test for the BJP since they were the first big electoral battle for the saffron party after coming to power in Delhi. For it was also a big poll fight to gain the lost electoral ground on the home turf. BJP won seven of the nine wards it held earlier, while AAP secured three.
AAP Cries Foul, Claims Results Manipulated
The AAP attempted to mar the celebrations and exuberance in the BJP camp over a thumping poll victory in 7 out of 12 wards by allegations of electoral fraud. The AAP's Delhi unit chief, Saurabh Bharadwaj, alleged that his party's candidate Seema Goyal was first declared as the 'winner' on the Election Commission (EC) portal but then the results were "reversed" during recounting, making the BJP nominee victorious.
He also shared a purported screenshot of the EC portal to corroborate his charge and claimed that the AAP's Seema Goyal trounced her BJP rival Veena Asija by a difference of 179 votes. The screenshot showed the AAP candidate polling 8,304 votes while the BJP nominee got 8,125 votes. The allegation of electoral fraud in the recently-held MCD elections is set to spark fresh controversy, as the Opposition parties have been raising allegations of "match-fixing" between the poll panel and BJP to turn the results in the latter's favour.
