The much-awaited Namo Bharat train will soon begin operations between Meerut and Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi, offering a fast 82 km journey that will take just one hour. The inauguration is expected during the Navratri, with sources indicating a possible date between September 30 and October 2.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has received all necessary clearances from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), and the Prime Minister’s Office has been updated on the preparations.

The service is set to be inaugurated by the PM along with the Meerut Metro, potentially from Shatabdi Nagar or Begumpur station, in the presence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The final fare details of the Namo Bharat train are expected to be shared before the inauguration.
Key Details of the Delhi-Meerut Corridor:
- Corridor length: 82 km
- Total Namo Bharat stations: 16 (Jangpura to Modipuram)
- Operational section: 55 km, 11 stations (New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South)
- Meerut Metro stations: 13 (Meerut South to Modi Puram Depot)
- Train speed: 160 km/h
- Travel time: 60 minutes

The new corridor aims to reduce the travel time between Meerut and Delhi, offering commuters a faster and more convenient alternative. The Meerut administration has already begun preparations for the upcoming launch.
