The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has launched a special campaign to make Connaught Place, the heart of Delhi, clean and green. The campaign aims to clean the corridors of Connaught Place, along with the areas under plants on the pavements and central verges.

As per the plan, a senior official has been deployed in each block to make the area garbage-free. The daily report of the process will be submitted to NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra to ensure smooth functioning.

According to the NDMC, not only will sanitation workers carry out the cleaning, but the horticulture department and all other departments will also be part of this campaign. A senior official stated that municipal assistants usually clean and collect rubbish in the morning, but are not available afterwards. As a result, by the afternoon, rubbish begins to accumulate in the corridors and around the dustbins.

To rectify this situation, junior and assistant engineers have been deployed in all 13 blocks. These officials will conduct inspections and report their work on a WhatsApp group.

The Officials have been instructed to take pictures of any kind of dirt and disorder in their respective blocks. The municipal assistants are also responsible for ensuring the area is kept clean.
