In view of the massive crowds expected during the Diwali and Chhath season, the railway administration has stepped up preparations to ensure smooth transport facilities at New Delhi and other major railway stations.
To ease platform congestion, a permanent holding area with a capacity of 7,000 passengers is being made at the New Delhi railway station, along with a temporary holding area being constructed at Anand Vihar Terminal. Passengers with general tickets will be directed to these areas and allowed onto platforms only when their trains arrive.

Railway Police Force (RPF) and Commercial Department personnel have been increased for crowd management and security. Special duty officers have been appointed at major railway stations to monitor peak hours.
Railway officials said that approximately 1,400 additional RPF personnel and 300 commercial department employees will be deployed at the New Delhi and Anand Vihar terminals.
Despite all efforts, crowds often become unruly as trains arrive on platforms. Given that New Delhi Railway Station experiences the highest footfall, authorities are introducing separate entry gates for reserved and unreserved passengers.
