In view of the stringent security arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, the Indian Railways has suspended parcel booking services at major railway stations in Delhi from January 23 to January 26. During this period, parcels will not be accepted for trains arriving at New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Delhi Sarai Rohilla and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations. Additionally, parcel booking facilities will remain temporarily suspended for trains passing through these stations.

According to railway officials, while passengers will be permitted to carry their personal luggage with them, no goods can be booked as parcels. Orders to this effect have been issued to all zones and stations following directives from the Railway Board.

High Security For Republic Day Celebrations

On the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, President Droupadi Murmu will hoist the national flag at the Red Fort. The event will feature a grand parade and various state tableaux.

With several high-profile dignitaries from India and abroad expected to attend, extensive security measures are being implemented across the capital, with security forces deployed at every corner.

Precautionary Measures Against Anti-National Elements

Railway sources stated that this decision was taken to eliminate the risk of anti-national elements sending objectionable or explosive materials via rail parcels. This suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure that the Republic Day celebrations are conducted peacefully and securely.
