Campaigning for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election will conclude at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, bringing an end to all candidate campaigning efforts. On Tuesday, the final day, candidates maximised their outreach through rallies, roadshows, and door-to-door visits in colleges and hostels. They made a concerted effort to connect with students across both the North and South campuses.
Parties Make Their Final Case To Voters
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) focused on highlighting their manifesto, which addresses key student concerns such as education, security, health, sports, employment, and women's empowerment. Their platform includes promises like discounted metro passes, sanitary pad dispensers, free Wi-Fi, scholarships for students with disabilities, subsidized health insurance, and job fairs. The ABVP slate consists of Aryan Maan for president, Govind Tanwar for vice president, Kunal Chaudhary for secretary, and Deepika Jha for joint secretary.
The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) held a roadshow on the South Campus, joined by Congress MP Deepender Hooda and NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary. Hooda encouraged students to vote, pledging to "open a 'Mohabbat ki Dukaan' (shop of love) on the DU campus." The NSUI is represented by Josleen Chaudhary for president, Rahul Jhansla for vice president, Kabir for secretary, and LavkushBhadana for joint secretary. With the NSUI winning the president and joint secretary posts and the ABVP securing the vice president and secretary positions in the previous election, this year's contest is expected to be highly competitive. An alliance between the All India Students' Association (AISA) and the Students' Federation of India (SFI) adds another layer of competition, as their joint candidate for secretary surprisingly received nearly 8,000 votes last year.
Election Details And Logistics
In total, 20 candidates are vying for the four DUSU positions: eight for president, three for vice president, four for secretary, and five for joint secretary. Voting is scheduled for September 18, with approximately 275,000 students eligible to participate. DUSU panel votes will be cast on EVMs, while votes for college councilors will be on ballot papers. A total of 700 EVMs have been allocated, with five sent to each college. Students in their second, third, and fourth years can vote with their identity cards. First-year students can use their college ID or a fee receipt, along with a government-issued photo ID like a voter ID, Aadhaar, PAN, or driving license. Voting will occur in two shifts: 8:30 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 7:30 pm. The counting process will begin on September 19 at 9 am, with results expected later that evening.

Allegations Of Election Code Violations
On Tuesday, AISA submitted a memorandum to the DUSU Chief Electoral Officer, calling for action against 12 candidates based on a petition filed in the Delhi High Court. AISA alleges that these candidates violated the university's election code of conduct by engaging in hooliganism, causing traffic disturbances with vehicles, and using excessive printed campaign materials. According to Chief Electoral Officer Prof. Raj Kishore Sharma, 14 to 15 complaints regarding code of conduct violations have been received and are currently under investigation.
