Q. What was your preparation journey, and how did you manage to stay motivated throughout the process?

I studied 12-13 hours each day. By setting a daily study schedule and adhering to it without fail, I ensured continuous progress in mastering complex subjects. Taking online classes from PW’s CA Wallah and balancing self-study simultaneously; this disciplined approach minimised last-minute cramming and maximised my understanding and retention of the material; which helped me secure the top rank. I used to write all the things that the teachers discussed in our online classes and then, during self-study, I would highlight the important points. Also, it is very important to stay focused during your preparation. I uninstalled Instagram and Facebook and only kept WhatsApp for communication purposes. Consistently doing this every day until the exam day, is what I believe helped me ace the exam.

Q. How did you tackle your hard subject and what specific strategies helped you overcome it?

My biggest challenge was the subject of Audit. It is a theoretical subject, and memorising it was the biggest task. However, Physics Wallah’s CA Wallah online classes have helped me get through the tougher parts and understand concepts very clearly.

To balance my classes and self-study, I ensured that I never missed a single class on Physics Wallah online and avoided creating any backlog. I paid close attention during the classes to thoroughly understand each concept. After class, I would immediately review my notes, highlight key points, and reinforce my understanding through self-study. This way, I maintained a steady pace without falling behind, allowing me to grasp and retain the material more effectively. This disciplined approach was crucial in managing both my classes and self-study efficiently.

Q. What techniques did you use for effective revision, especially in the months leading up to the exams?

To revise effectively, I first created a structured schedule, dedicating specific time slots to each subject based on my strengths and weaknesses. I prioritised complex subjects that needed more time, ensuring I covered all topics thoroughly. I practiced active recall by testing myself on key concepts and solving past exam papers to find areas needing more focus. Additionally, I summarised my notes, made flashcards, which helped reinforce my understanding and retention of the material.

Q. How often did you take mock tests, and how did they help you improve?

I took mock tests every week and approached them with the same seriousness as the actual exam. This consistent practice was very helpful, as it not only helped me understand my preparation level but also improved my time management skills. By simulating exam conditions, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to focus on areas that needed improvement. This rigorous routine played a crucial role in my overall preparation and success.

Q. What advice would you give to students who are struggling with certain subjects in their CA preparation?

If you're struggling with certain subjects in your CA preparation, I would suggest don't leave them until the last minute. Address your doubts early and seek the right guidance. Make detailed notes to refer back to, which can be very helpful. From my experience, I found theoretical subjects challenging, so I made them a priority and dedicated extra time to understanding and mastering them. Remember, tackling difficult subjects head-on and staying consistent with your studies can make a big difference.

Q. What are some common mistakes you think CA aspirants should avoid during their preparation?

I do believe that CA aspirants often make the mistake of allowing backlogs to build up. It's crucial not to take classes for granted or procrastinate, as this can lead to a significant amount of catching up. Another common mistake is not taking mock tests seriously. It's essential to time these tests and approach them with the same seriousness as the actual exam. Additionally, students often neglect complex subjects like theory, which require more attention and understanding. Prioritising and dedicating time to these areas can significantly improve your preparation and performance.
