CAT Exam Preparation 2024: The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 will take place 60 days from now, on November 24. The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta will conduct the exam for admission to management programs at the IIMs, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and other participating business schools.
According to the CAT 2024 exam structure, the MBA entrance exam will be held in three sessions. The exam will last two hours or 120 minutes. The test paper will include three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA).
Based on previous years' trends, the exam will consist of 66 questions worth 198 points. Students will have 40 minutes to tackle each question. The exam will be given in computer-based test (CBT) mode.
The CAT is a one step to entering into what only a handful of institutes in India can offer which makes it one of the toughest tests in the country. As you are left with 60 days you may probably think that getting 100 percentile is not possible, but certainly it is possible if planned well. Here now is a 60-day preparation plan to keep you ready for the exam as much as possible.
1. How to Break Down the Syllabus (Week 1-2)
The first step is to go back through the entire curriculum. Bifurcate CAT sections in to QA, DILR, VARC. Determine where you are lacking and where you should spend more time to address your lack of skills.
2. Develop a daily Schedule (Week 2-6)
Allocate 8-10 hours daily, dividing the time between each section:
- Quantitative Aptitude: Devote 2-3 hours to exploring basics including Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry as well as Modern Mathematics. Work on speed and accuracy.
- DILR: Spend 2 hours of the program solving various sets and puzzles. Strengthen the student’s ability to analyze data and think more logically.
- VARC: Spend 2-3 hours every day on reading comprehension and enhancing word lists. Workout in critical thinking and exercises in correct English use.
3. Mock Tests and Analysis, Week 3-8
Make full-length mock tests a part of your practice schedule at least 3 times a week. Spend equally as much time on every test to understand your shortcomings and to refine your approach. Concentrate on behaviours that are problematic for you and try to monitor your performance.
4. Area of Learning: Revision and Practice (Week 7-8)
The last two weeks must be used to review and refresh on what has been learned. Revision of previous years' question papers and again try your hand at the questions which you found difficult. Studying and practising in the area of time management and how to take tests. Stay relaxed and try to stay positive.
If you follow this plan with full sincerity and rigour in 60 days, keep your chances high that you can score the desired percentile of the CAT 2024 Exam 100!
