This much-anticipated declaration brings relief to lakhs of students who have been anxiously waiting for their results after the examinations concluded on April 4. The overall pass percentage stands at an impressive 88.39%, showing a slight improvement compared to the previous year's results.

With a total of over 44 lakh students appearing for both Class 10 and 12 examinations this year, the education board has efficiently managed the evaluation process. The Class 10 results are expected to follow soon, as officials are currently finalizing the data. In the Class 10 examinations, a total of 17,04,367 students were registered, of which 16,92,794 students appeared, and 14,96,307 students passed the exam.

Girls Outshine Boys Once Again in Academic Performance

Continuing the trend from previous years, girls have outperformed boys in the CBSE Class 12 examinations 2025. Female candidates recorded a pass percentage of 91.64%, slightly up from 91.52% in 2024. Meanwhile, male candidates registered a pass percentage of 85.70%, also showing improvement from 85.12% the previous year. Overall, girls outshone boys by a significant margin of 5.94%.

In a notable achievement, the transgender category achieved a perfect 100% pass percentage in 2025, marking a remarkable jump from 50% in 2024. This reflects the inclusive nature of education and the board's commitment to providing equal opportunities for all students.

School-wise Performance Analysis: JNVs Lead the Way

The institutional performance breakdown reveals interesting patterns in the quality of education across different types of schools. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) emerged as the top performers with an exceptional pass percentage of 99.29%. They were closely followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) at 99.05% and Central Tibetan Schools (STSS) at 98.96%.

Among other categories, government-aided schools achieved a respectable pass percentage of 91.57%, while government schools recorded 90.48%. Independent or private schools, though slightly lower in comparison, still maintained a solid performance with a pass percentage of 87.94%.

Region-wise Performance: Delhi-East Shows Strong Results

The Delhi region demonstrated strong academic performance in the CBSE Class 12 examinations. According to the data, 308,105 students from the board's Delhi region registered for the Class 12 board exam, of whom 306,733 appeared and 291,962 passed. The pass percentage for the Delhi region stands at an impressive 95.18%, significantly higher than the national average.

This regional performance highlights the quality of education and preparedness of students in the national capital region, setting a benchmark for other regions to follow.

Introduction of Relative Grading System

From the academic session 2024-25 onward, CBSE has introduced a 'Relative Grading' system, aimed at reducing academic stress and unhealthy competition among students. Unlike the previous fixed grading model—which allocated grades based on specific mark ranges (such as 91-100 for A1, 81-90 for A2)—the new system assesses a student's performance in comparison to their peer group.

As a result, the cutoff for each grade may vary depending on subject-wise performance trends and the number of passing candidates. This progressive approach is expected to create a more balanced evaluation system that considers the overall performance landscape rather than rigid mark brackets.
