CBSE Board 2025-26: According to sources, the Ministry of Education has instructed the CBSE to work out arrangements to hold board exams twice a year beginning with the 2025-26 academic year. The establishment of a semester system has been deemed out, they stated.

The ministry and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will talk with school principals next month about holding board exams twice a year, according to sources. The CBSE is at present figuring out the details of how the academic calendar would be arranged to allow another set of board exams without disrupting the undergraduate entrance timetable, they said.

"The ministry has asked the CBSE to work on the logistics of how will board exams be conducted twice a year. The board is working out the modalities and a consultation will be organised next month with school principals," a source told PTI.

"The idea being explored is to conduct two editions of the board exams at the end of the year from the 2025-26 academic session but the modalities still need to be worked out. However, there is no plan to implement the semester system," the source added.

As per the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) published by the education ministry the previous year, board exams would be conducted twice a year to make sure that pupils are given plenty of chances to perform well and maintain their top scores.
