The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has successfully defended its online portal against a major cyber attack while simultaneously managing a massive influx of student applications. According to an official statement, the board’s technical infrastructure successfully thwarted a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack consisting of 3.8 million malicious data packets, ensuring that the system remained operational for students nationwide.


As of Wednesday evening, the board reported that more than 56,000 online applications for verification and re-evaluation had been successfully accepted and processed. The digital security incident highlighted the growing vulnerabilities of high-traffic educational portals, prompting the board's technical teams to proactively monitor performance and introduce continuous refinements for a smoother user experience.

Official CBSE Statement: "More than 56,000 applications for verification and re-evaluation were accepted by 9.30 pm. Our technical teams are proactively monitoring performance and introducing refinements to deliver a smoother, faster, and more seamless experience for students."

Strict Security Measures and Deadlines

The online verification process, which allows students to address discrepancies observed in the scanned copies of their answer books, officially opened on June 2. The board has strictly mandated that all applications must be submitted via the online portal, as no offline submissions are being accepted.

To enhance user security and prevent fraudulent submissions, the board has integrated biometric/identity authentication measures for the current academic cycle. Students have until midnight on June 6 to finalize their submissions.

Application Fees and Payment Structure

To complete the process, applicants must navigate the online gateway to clear their processing fees. The board has established a structured fee system, requiring a payment of Rs 100 for the initial verification phase and an additional Rs 25 for the re-evaluation of specific answers.

All payments must be processed digitally through the official portal at cbse.gov.in.
