JE Education Desk: The Delhi government has ordered the closure of all schools from September 7 to September 10 in preparation for the G20 summit, but has urged employees of the Department of Education to stay in the city during these four days in case there is a need for additional staff during the summit.
The newly constructed Bharat Mandapam International Convention and Exposition Center at Pragati Maidan will host the G20 Leaders Summit from September 9 to 10.
"...public holiday (has been declared) in Delhi-NCR... (from) September 8 to September 10 on account of G20 Summit and prior to that, September 7 is a gazetted holiday on account of Janmashtami," the government said in a circular.
"Keeping in view the magnitude of the event and the possible need of manpower for any deployment, it has been decided that all the staff members of the Education Department ... (should) remain in the city," it said.

The circular further stated that all staff had to be reachable by phone and that no out-of-town vacations would be allowed during this time because their services might be needed at any moment.
"Accordingly, all Officers/Officials of this Directorate are hereby directed to take note of the above direction and ensure their presence within the National Capital Territory of Delhi during the G20 Summit," it said.
In its capacity as the G20's current president, India is hosting the summit, which is expected to draw more than 30 heads of state, high-ranking representatives from the European Union and guests, as well as the heads of 14 international organizations.
