The principal of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College in south Delhi announced on Saturday that 1,397 of the 3,600 students enrolled will be taken action because their attendance rate is below 40 per cent. Among them are 200 students who have never attended any classes.
The principal further stated that 1,022 other candidates will have to give assurance that they will make up the missed classwork in the upcoming semester. The management of the college has given them until December 12th to make this final choice.
The college decided not to issue exam admit cards to students whose attendance was less than 40 per cent for a semester, according to a notice released on Saturday. This decision was made in light of previous notices sent to students urging them to meet the minimum attendance requirement under Delhi University guidelines.
Students have been given the option to provide documents or evidence to support any claims they may have made that they met the minimum attendance requirement. They also have until December 12 to correct any attendance discrepancies.
“Some students were genuinely absent due to extracurricular activities such as sports, but there are some pursuing courses outside or focusing on their family business instead of attending classes,” said Arun Kumar Attree, principal of Sheikh Sarai College as reported by the Time of India.

Candidates must note that admit cards will be issued to those whose attendance falls between 40 per cent and 66.6 per cent as long as they ensure to make up the difference in the following semester and make sure their total attendance for the two semesters is at least 66.6 per cent. They won't obtain admit cards if they fail to fill out the undertaking by December 12.
