Diwali School Holidays 2024 Dates:  India is buzzing with excitement as the Festival of Lights, Diwali, approaches. For students, Diwali provides a much-anticipated break from their busy school and college schedules. However, the duration and timing of Diwali holidays can vary significantly between northern and southern regions, primarily due to local customs and traditions.

Schools in several states will be closed for Diwali, as well as for subsequent holidays like Goverdhan, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath. Many state governments have designated specific dates for these celebrations, with Diwali falling on October 31, 2024. It is advisable for parents and students to check with their respective schools and colleges to confirm the exact number of holidays announced by their institutions.

Most of the schools will declare a four-day holiday for the occasion. This year, Diwali falls on October 31, followed by Govardhan Puja on November 2 and Bhai Dooj on November 3. As a result, schools across the state will observe a four-day break. Some schools are also closed on November 1. Students and parents are advised to check the official holiday calendar or contact their respective schools to know the exact date of the holidays.

Diwali 2024 Significance

Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, celebrates the triumph of good over evil, marking the return of Lord Ram, Mata Sita, and Lakshman to Ayodhya after their 14-year exile and the defeat of Ravana. People observe this auspicious day by decorating their homes, wearing new clothes, exchanging gifts with loved ones, enjoying delicious sweets, and creating beautiful rangoli. Hindu devotees also worship Maa Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha during this festive time.
