Nandan Nilekani Task Force Team: Following student protests and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a six-member high-powered task force. This special exam task force has been constituted with the aim of recommending reforms to make the examination system more transparent, secure, and technology-driven.
The committee will be chaired by Nandan Nilekani, and experts from diverse fields, such as logistics, education, science and technology, artificial intelligence and computing, and security, will play key roles in it.

Nandan Nilekani: Chairperson
Nandan Nilekani is a technocrat, digital infrastructure innovator, and Infosys co-founder. He was the founding chairperson of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) between 2009 and 2014, overseeing the rollout of Aadhaar, and also chaired the Technology Advisory Group of Unique Projects (TAGUP).
As Chairperson of the Exam Reform Task Force, he will lead the panel, consolidate recommendations from experts across sectors, design a secure Digital Public Infrastructure for national exams, oversee the shift to computer-based testing, and author the task force's final recommendations.
The Logistics, Education And Science Experts
Amrit Lal Meena, a retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary of Bihar, will identify vulnerabilities across the exam supply chain and design tamper-proof systems for transporting and storing question papers.
Anita Karwal, former Education Secretary and ex-CBSE Chairperson, will focus on integrating technology into the exam process and reviewing NTA's protocols for accountability.
S Somanath, former ISRO Chairman known for leading Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1, will design multi-layer testing protocols and ensure infrastructure can support millions of users without technical glitches.
The AI And Security Experts:
Dr V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, will reinforce the technological structure of national exams against digital threats, design AI-powered surveillance for exam halls, and audit CBT software infrastructure for security gaps.
Tapan Deka, former Intelligence Bureau Director with extensive counter-terrorism experience, will map paper-leak networks, secure printing presses and transit vehicles, and build a vetting framework aligned with the Public Examinations Amendment Act 2026.
What Does This Mean For Upcoming Exams?
The task force has been formed with the single aim of making upcoming national-level entrance exams, especially NEET, leak-proof and fair. With security, artificial intelligence, and digital surveillance combined under one panel, the recommendations are expected to help prevent question paper leaks through total technology upgrades, better logistics, and stricter rules.
The Exam Reform Task Force is likely to submit its structural recommendations in the coming days, which will also be considered while deciding on a shift to online CBT mode for NEET UG.
