JEE Main 2024 Session 2: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is preparing to hold the JEE Main 2024 Session 2 from April 4 to April 12. Candidates who have successfully applied for the Joint Entrance Examination Main 2024 April session will take the exam for either B.Arch. & B.Planning (Papers 2A & 2B) or B.E./B.Tech. (Paper 1).

The JEE Mains session 2 exams will be held in two shifts: the morning session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the afternoon session from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Mastering the mathematics component of the JEE Main test is crucial for gaining a competitive advantage. Certain topics are more important than others, making them critical emphasis points for applicants aiming for high grades.

JEE Main 2024: High-weightage Mathematics Topics

To prepare well for the JEE Main 2024 examination, here are five high-weightage mathematics topics that must be revised by every candidate:-

Coordinate Geometry: This topic accounts for around 20% of the weightage in JEE Main Math. It covers topics such as straight lines, circles, parabolas, hyperbolas, ellipses, and three-dimensional geometry. Coordinate geometry relies significantly on your visualisation skills and algebraic manipulations.

Calculus: This is the most essential topic in JEE Main Maths, with a weightage of approximately 25%. It covers differentiation, integration, and their applications. Make sure you understand limits, continuity, derivatives, integrals, differential equations, and their applications.

Algebra: This topic accounts for approximately 18% of JEE Main Maths. It covers topics like complex numbers, quadratic equations, permutations and combinations, the binomial theorem, determinants and matrices, and sets and relations. A solid algebra foundation is required for success in other subjects as well.

Vector Algebra: This topic accounts for approximately 15% of the weightage in JEE Main Maths. It discusses vectors, scalar product, vector product, and their applications. Understanding vector ideas and applications is required to answer problems involving projectile motion, forces, and work energy.

Probability and Statistics: This topic accounts for approximately 12% of the weightage in the JEE Main Maths section. It covers basic probability theory, conditional probability, Bayes' theorem, and statistics (mean, median, mode, standard deviation). Probability and statistics have applications in a variety of industries, including engineering and economics.

About NTA JEE Mains Exam

The JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination - Main) is a national-level entrance exam for undergraduate engineering programs (BE/BTech) at NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) in India. It is also used to determine qualifying for the JEE Advanced exam, which is required for entrance to Indian Institutes of Technology.
