The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has cancelled the Class 10 Science exam after reports confirmed that the question paper had been leaked. The JAC Board exams, which began on 11th February 2025, were thrown into controversy when it was discovered that the Science paper had surfaced online two days before the scheduled exam, Jagran.com reported.
According to Jagran.com, the paper leak was first identified in Koderma. After the exam, students from Pariyojana Balika Uchcha Vidyalaya and Government Plus 2 School, Sarvodaya Jamja Uchcha Vidyalaya Markachu Kendra confirmed that the leaked question paper matched exactly with the official exam paper.
Authorities have also revealed that the paper was allegedly sold for Rs 350 in a WhatsApp group with over 1,000 members. Koderma’s District Education Officer (DEO) Avinash Ram has acknowledged the incident and stated that the matter is under investigation. JAC officials suspect that the leak may have originated from Koderma and Giridih districts, prompting further inquiries from the local administration.
JAC Issues Official Statement, Denies Leak Allegations
Despite reports and growing concerns among students and parents, Earlier, the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) issued a press release on 19th February 2025, denying the leak allegations. In its statement, JAC dismissed the claims, attributing them to anti-social elements attempting to mislead students and create unnecessary panic.
The official notification stated, "Question papers for the examination conducted by the organisation are being circulated via print media, newspapers, etc., before the commencement of the exam. Such actions are carried out by anti-social elements with malicious intent, causing financial loss to students and their guardians.
It is important to clarify that candidates should ignore any misleading information of this kind and focus entirely on their exam preparation. The organisation remains committed to conducting the examination with complete confidentiality, transparency, and discipline.
Any confirmation of a leak should only be sought from the official website of the organisation.
All candidates, their guardians, and associated officials are requested not to pay attention to such misleading news and to ensure their participation in the examination in a fair and disciplined manner.
Note: If any information regarding fraudulent leaks by anti-social elements is received, it should be immediately reported to the relevant district administration (including the designated officer, police authority, and district education officer)."
What Happens Next?
With the cancellation of the Science exam, thousands of students across Jharkhand are left waiting for an update on whether the exam will be rescheduled or if an alternative arrangement will be made. The JAC Board is expected to release an official statement soon regarding the next steps.
Meanwhile, authorities continue their investigation to identify those responsible for the leak and take strict action against them.
