BJP leader Vijender Gupta confirms his selection as the Delhi Assembly Speaker. "Yes, yes. Maintaining the decorum of the House is our responsibility. It is the temple of democracy and our goal is to maintain its dignity." He further expresses happiness over government formation by BJP. "It is a matter of joy that the BJP is forming the government after 27 years," he says.

BJP leader Rekha Gupta is expected to take oath as Delhi's new chief minister soon. The CM-designate has left her residence and is headed for the Ramlila Maidan for the grand event. 

Senior BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa is set to take oath as Delhi Minister today along with five others. Expressing his gratitude towards the BJP leadership, he says, "I thank PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda for giving me the opportunity to work as a cabinet minister and work for the development of Delhi...PM Modi has returned the rights (of the Sikh community) after 12 years, because the previous government had abolished the post of Sikh cabinet minister and did injustice to the Sikh community...Our priority is to clean Delhi, Yamuna river..."

BJP leader Kapil Mishra is set to take oath in the Delhi Council of Ministers today, along side Delhi CM designate Rekha Gupta. Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, he offers prayers at the Jhandewalan temple. Speaking to the media, the Karawal Nagar MLA says, "All of us will work together to implement PM Modi's vision. They (AAP) betrayed the people of Delhi, and they received their punishment through the power of vote. There will be an investigation against the corruption of AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. There has been a decision in the people's court, soon there will be a decision in the court of law." Mishra had come into limelight in 2020 after he was accused of making hate speeches during communal riots in Delhi.

Ahead of the oath ceremony, Delhi CM-designate Rekha Gupta was asked if she will stay in the "sheesh mahal", a term used by the BJP to refer to the chief minister's residence renovated by former CM Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP's CM pick responded by saying that she won't be residing in that house, which became a major source of political upheaval under the AAP regime in the national capital.

Mohan Singh Bisht likely to be the Deputy Speaker of Delhi Assembly, news agency ANI reports, citing sources.

Senior BJP leader and former Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta is likely to the Delhi Assembly Speaker, according to reports. 

Rekha Gupta, who was declared the Delhi CM pick by BJP on Wednesday, said, "PM Narendra Modi has shown immense faith in an ordinary party worker and daughter like me. I will stand up to his expectations. I want to thank the party leadership and PM Narendra Modi who showed immense faith in a commoner like me and bestowed such a big responsibility on me... My story can be an inspiration for every woman, that a common middle-class woman can also be given a chance to reach the top leadership of the party."

BJP leader Rekha Gupta is a first-time MLA, who won from the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency in the Delhi elections held on February 5. She has served as general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi and as a member of its national executive committee. Gupta is set to become the fourth woman chief minister of Delhi after Sheila Dikshit of Congress, Sushma Swaraj of BJP and Atishi of AAP.

Speaking to the media, Delhi CM-designate Rekha Gupta's husband, Manish Gupta says, "We never thought that she (Rekha Gupta) would become the Chief Minister of Delhi. It seems like a miracle. It is a matter of happiness for us that the party has given us so much respect.",

The security has been heightened for the event which will see around 50,000 people. More than 25,000 security personnel and over 15 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed across the national capital for Thursday's oath ceremony of the new chief minister at Ramlila Maidan, a Delhi Police officer said. The police said commandos, quick reaction teams, PCR vans, and SWAT teams had been deployed at strategic locations while snipers were positioned at high-rise buildings nearby. Only authorised people will be allowed near the venue and a proper traffic plan has been chalked out, the police said.

Rekha Gupta, who was chosen as the Delhi Chief Minister face by the BJP, will be sworn in at a mega event at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi today. Senior BJP leader Ravishankar Prasad announced the selection of 50-year-old Rekha Gupta as the Leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly at the BJP legislature party meeting on Wednesday evening. The first-time MLA met Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena soon after the announcement and staked claim to form the government in the national capital.
