Kerala PSC Postponed:  Kerala continues to witness intense rainfall, prompting authorities to announce widespread school closures and postpone several examinations. Following the India Meteorological Department's warning of continued heavy rain, district administrations have taken precautionary measures to safeguard students and the public.

An Orange Alert remains in force in 12 districts, while Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam are under a Yellow Alert. Along with school holidays in seven districts, the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) and Mahatma Gandhi University have postponed multiple examinations due to adverse weather conditions.

Which Kerala Districts Have Declared a School Holiday?

District Collectors have announced a holiday on Tuesday, August 4, for all educational institutions in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kasaragod and Kozhikode. The closure covers schools, colleges, professional colleges, anganwadis and tuition centres. However, previously scheduled public and university examinations will continue unless separately notified.

Additionally, holidays have been declared in Taliparamba, Payyannur and Iritty taluks of Kannur district, while schools functioning as relief camps in Wayanad and Idukki will also remain closed.

Which Exams Have Been Postponed Due to Heavy Rain?

The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) has postponed all online and OMR examinations scheduled for August 4, 5, 6 and 10. Fresh examination dates will be announced later.

Meanwhile, Mahatma Gandhi University has deferred all theory and practical examinations scheduled between August 4 and August 7. Revised dates will be notified separately by the university.

What Is the Latest IMD Weather Alert for Kerala?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued heavy rainfall across Kerala. An Orange Alert has been issued for 12 districts, indicating the likelihood of very heavy rainfall, while Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam remain under a Yellow Alert.

Authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas and follow official weather advisories until conditions improve.

What Other Rain-Related Disruptions Have Been Reported?

The continuing downpour has also affected public events and transportation. In Pathanamthitta, the Aranmula Vallasadya scheduled for August 4 and 5 has been cancelled. The KSRTC Budget Tourism packages linked to the event have also been cancelled, and officials have said affected bookings will be accommodated on future dates.
