Schools Closed News: The authorities in Thiruvananthapuram have declared a schools, and Colleges holiday today, October 4 due to the ongoing heavy rains and resulting flooding in Kerala. This decision affects all educational institutions in the area. Kerala has been experiencing relentless heavy rainfall for the past few days, resulting in the issuance of a yellow alert for certain districts. The continuous downpour has caused extensive flooding in various parts of the state, leading to the closure of numerous schools and colleges in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. Students are advised to contact their respective school heads to know the school closed status. 

On October 3, the district administration declared a holiday for educational institutions in Kottayam, Vaikom, and Changanassery taluks. This decision was made in response to the flooding in these areas, which has led to the operation of 17 relief camps providing shelter to approximately 246 people. Moreover, in Alappuzha, educational institutions in Cherthala and Chengannur taluks, which were actively managing relief camps, were also granted a holiday by the district administration.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light rainfall in isolated areas of the Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts of Kerala on the same day. Furthermore, IMD issued a yellow alert for four districts, namely Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha, indicating the potential for heavy rainfall ranging from 6 cm to 11 cm. Kerala has been witnessing continuous rain over the past three to four days, leading to various incidents such as tree uprooting, waterlogging, and the collapse of compound walls in different areas.
