Students engage in debates and speech contests to honor Gandhiji's non-violence principles and moral values. Here are some simple speech ideas for students and children can take help to make their own speech.

Dear Teachers/ Students/Friends,

Today, October 2, 2023, holds immense significance for our nation as it marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, a pivotal figure in India's struggle for independence.

Birth And Names

Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat, with his full name being Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He is affectionately referred to as Bapu, the Father of the Nation, and Gandhiji due to his monumental contributions.

Education And Journey

Gandhiji studied law in India and later completed his barrister degree in London. He then traveled to South Africa to work for a client. Although he didn't achieve notable success as a lawyer, he rose to prominence as a revered freedom fighter, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

Non-Violent Struggle

Gandhi's path to independence was characterised by simplicity and non-violence. He spearheaded several non-violent movements like Champaran Satyagraha, Dandi Satyagraha, Non-Cooperation Movement, Dalit Movement, and Quit India Movement. His sole objective was liberating India from British colonial rule, which was ultimately achieved on August 15, 1947, celebrated annually as Independence Day.

Gandhiji's Broader Advocacy

Apart from the fight for independence, Gandhiji fought for Hindu-Muslim unity, eradicating racial discrimination, eliminating untouchability, and promoting women's empowerment.

Assassination And Legacy

On January 30, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was tragically assassinated by Nathuram Godse. Although he is no longer with us, his teachings, values, principles, and non-violent methods continue to inspire and guide us.

On this Gandhi Jayanti, we remember and honor the enduring legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, whose unwavering commitment to justice and peace continues to shape our nation's conscience.

In conclusion, I'd like to share some famous and inspiring quotes by Mahatma Gandhi, honoring his profound philosophies and insights.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."
"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

Thank You, Happy Gandhi Jayanti.

Jai Hind.
