CBSE Board Exam Framework: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made important changes regarding the board examinations of class 10th and 12th. From now on, the board examinations of class 10th and 12th will be considered a two-year program. That is, to appear in the board examination of any subject, it will be mandatory for the student to study that subject for two years.

For example, if a student has taken fashion designing and painting as optional subjects in class IX, then he will have to study both these subjects in class IX as well as class X. The student will not be able to change his subject in class X. The same situation will apply in class XI and XII as well.

CBSE Introduces New Subject Selection Framework:

The board has also clarified that in class 9th-10th, students will be allowed to take two additional subjects along with five core subjects, and in class 11th-12th, students will be allowed to take one additional subject along with five core subjects.

CBSE Examination Controller Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj said that these changes are in line with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 and are being implemented with the aim of making the education system more transparent and effective.

Mandatory Attendance and Assessment Requirements:

Also, the board also said that at least 75 per cent attendance will have to be maintained to appear in board exams and internal assessment will be mandatory in all subjects. If students do not come to school, their internal assessment will not be done and neither the result will be declared. Students who do not follow the rules will be put in the compulsory repetition category.

School Authorisation and Resource Requirements:

CBSE has warned schools that they cannot start any new subject without the permission of the board. If the school does not have accredited teachers, laboratories and resources, they will not be able to teach any subject as a main or additional subject.

At the same time, students who had earlier taken additional subjects and who are in the compartment or required repetition category will be allowed to appear in the exam as private candidates.
