MPPSC Prelims 2024 Exam: The Indore police have registered a case against an unidentified individual for allegedly attempting to sell a fake question paper for the Madhya Pradesh state service exam online, claiming it had been leaked, an official said on Monday.
Following a complaint by a vigilance officer of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC), a case was registered on Sunday night under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, an official from Sanyogitaganj police station said, as reported by news agency PTI.
A candidate of the state service examination reported that rumors of the paper leak began when an account was created on the social media platform 'Telegram,' claiming that the question papers for the preliminary round of the MPPSC exam were available for Rs 2,500 each. The account also provided a QR code for payment, as reported by PTI.
MPPSC Officer on Special Duty Ravindra Panchbhai informed PTI that a "suspicious" question paper had been circulated on social media two days ago, falsely claiming it was a leaked 'General Studies' subject paper.
"We compared the suspicious question paper with the original one of the subject for the preliminary round of the state service exam held on Sunday and found it to be fake," he said.
According to data, nearly 1.83 lakh candidates were eligible to appear in the preliminary round of the examination held on Sunday across 55 district headquarters in the state. The examination was conducted for 110 posts, including 15 deputy collector positions and 22 deputy superintendent of police positions.
