MPSC Prelims Exam 2024: Amid protests, the Maharashtra government has postponed the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) preliminary exam. MPSC aspirants have raised concerns about a scheduling conflict between the civil services exam, set for August 25, and the IBPS exam, which is also scheduled for the same day. The new exam date will be announced soon.
"In the commission meeting held today, Sunday, dt. It has been decided to postpone the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024 scheduled on 25th August 2024. The exam date will be announced soon," Maharashtra Public Service Commission posted on social media platform X.

On August 21, aspirants in Pune urged the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) to include 258 Agriculture Department vacancies in the exam. They also protested against the scheduled August 25 exam date, citing a conflict with the IBPS exam, which would prevent many candidates from attending both exams.
NCP (SP) Chief Sharad Pawar voiced his support for the candidates protesting in Pune since Tuesday night, demanding the postponement of the MPSC prelims exam scheduled for August 25. Pawar warned that he would join the protest if the government did not clarify its stand.
“It is the responsibility of the state government to consider the interests of students taking the MPSC exam … However, it seems, the rulers are not taking it seriously. By tomorrow (Thursday), if the government does not clarify its stand, I will go to the agitation venue and take part in the agitation to ensure justice for the candidates,” said the NCP (SP) chief on X late on Wednesday night.
