NEET UG Re-Exam 2026 Under Scrutiny: Parliamentary Panel Meeting On July 1; K Radhakrishnan To Brief On NTA Reforms

NEET UG Re-Exam 2026: Senior officials from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the National Testing Agency (NTA) are set to appear before the Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports on July 1. The briefing will cover the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination along with the broader steps being taken to reinforce the entrance examination system's integrity.

The committee meeting takes place days after the NEET re-exam was conducted on June 21, a step that followed the cancellation of the originally scheduled May 3 exam over allegations of a paper leak. The CBI continues to probe the matter, with investigators working to trace the source and extent of the leak.

Radhakrishnan To Present Reform Progress:

Former ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan, who leads the high-powered committee overseeing NTA reforms, is expected to update the panel on the implementation status of measures recommended following the 2024 NEET row. His briefing will likely touch on efforts to strengthen security, transparency and overall credibility of national-level entrance tests.

NTA And Education Ministry Officials To Attend:

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh is scheduled to walk the committee through the outcomes and key learnings drawn from the June 21 re-examination process. Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi has also been called to attend, as the panel looks to evaluate how the re-exam was managed and whether further safeguards need to be introduced ahead of future national tests.

Wider Agenda: AI In Education And Past Reviews:

This meeting follows an earlier review in May, when the panel examined progress on the Radhakrishnan Committee's recommendations and raised concerns over delays in implementing reforms that had already been accepted in principle. Beyond NEET, the committee is also expected to take up the impact of Artificial Intelligence on education and ways to boost student employability, with experts from institutions like the Indian Institute of Science and AICTE expected to share their inputs.

This will also mark the first meeting under the newly appointed chairman Mukul Wasnik, following the retirement of former chairman Digvijaya Singh from the Rajya Sabha earlier this month.
