Free Education In Odisha: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announces that education from kindergarten (KG) to postgraduate (PG) level in all government institutions across the State will be completely free. The announcement comes as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government completes two years in office. The Chief Minister reiterates the government's commitment to making education accessible and universal for all sections of society.

Chief Minister Announces Free Education:

Addressing a press conference on Friday, June 12, 2026, Mr. Majhi says the decision aims to strengthen the education sector and ensure that financial constraints do not hinder students from pursuing higher studies. The initiative covers all government educational institutions in the State.

Annapurna Yojana Launched for Food Security:

The Chief Minister also launches the state-level Chief Minister Annapurna Yojana. Under the scheme, all beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) will receive an additional 5 kg of rice every month free of cost. The move is intended to enhance food security for vulnerable households.

BJP Government Marks Two Years in Odisha:

The announcements are made during an event marking two years of the BJP government in Odisha. Several development projects are also inaugurated at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar. The government highlights education, welfare, and inclusive growth as key priorities during its tenure.
