Punjab Education Performance: Punjab has distinguished itself in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024, securing the top position in Class 3, sharing the lead in Class 6 with Kerala, and independently topping the Class 9 rankings. This impressive performance highlights the state's commitment to enhancing educational outcomes.
In a significant stride for education, Punjab has emerged as a frontrunner in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024. Harjot Singh Bains, the Minister of School Education, proudly announced on Wednesday that the state's strategic focus on academic excellence has yielded remarkable results across various grade levels.
NAS, recognized as India's most reliable and prestigious survey for evaluating student academic milestones, meticulously assesses learning outcomes. It achieves this by selecting a representative sample of students from Classes 3, 6, and 9 to provide a comprehensive overview of the overall educational landscape.
Stellar Performance Across Grades:
Punjab's performance in the NAS (PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan) was truly outstanding. In the Class 3 rankings, Punjab secured the first position with an impressive 80 marks, significantly surpassing Himachal Pradesh (74 marks) and Kerala (73 marks). This demonstrates a strong foundation in early learning.
For Class 6, Punjab continued its excellent run, sharing the top spot with Kerala, both achieving 67 marks. The state then reclaimed its sole leadership in the Class 9 ranking, outperforming all other states and Union Territories (UTs) with a score of 57 marks, reinforcing its commitment to comprehensive student development.
Collaborative Assessment and Policy Impact:
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) spearheaded this nationwide survey. It was conducted in close partnership with individual states and UTs, aiming to gauge learning outcomes and pinpoint specific areas requiring improvement. Thousands of students from across the nation actively participated in this extensive assessment.
Minister Bains emphasized that Punjab's stellar performance in the NAS unequivocally underscores the current AAP government's unwavering dedication. This success reflects their persistent efforts in ensuring the provision of quality education and consistently improving student learning outcomes across the state.
He further elaborated on the government's plans to leverage this success as a foundation for future growth. The Punjab government is committed to continuously raising the standards of the education system, with the ultimate goal of providing students with the best possible educational opportunities.
Highlighting other significant achievements of the education department, Minister Bains proudly shared that 845 government school students successfully cleared the highly competitive National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) this year. Additionally, 265 students also qualified for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains. These results demonstrate the department's firm determination to foster academic excellence and empower students to succeed in some of the country's most challenging competitive exams. The Punjab government has indeed prioritised education at the highest level.
