THE World University Rankings 2024: The Times Higher Education (THE) has released the World University Rankings for 2024, featuring a total of 91 Indian institutions. Among these, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has claimed the highest position among Indian universities, securing a rank between 201-250 in the overall rankings.

Following IISc Bangalore, the universities that trail in rankings include Anna University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Mahatma Gandhi University, and Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences. These universities have secured positions in the range of 501-600.

The United States leads as the most prominently featured country overall, with a total of 169 institutions, and it also dominates the top 200, boasting 56 institutions within this bracket. India has now secured the position as the fourth most-represented nation, with 91 institutions, surpassing China, which has 86 institutes included in the rankings.

In the global rankings, the University of Oxford, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) hold the top three positions among universities.

“The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 include 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions. This year’s ranking analysed more than 134 million citations across 16.5 million research publications and included survey responses from 68,402 scholars globally. Overall, we collected 411,789 datapoints from more than 2,673 institutions that submitted data,” the website reads.
