UP School Holidays: Schools in Uttar Pradesh have been closed until January 1st due to severe cold. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered strict safety measures, relief arrangements, and shelter facilities, while the International Medical Center has warned of freezing temperatures and dense fog.
Uttar Pradesh is currently experiencing a severe cold wave, affecting large parts of the state. In view of the severe cold and to ensure the safety of children, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced strict measures, including the temporary closure of schools and increased relief arrangements for vulnerable populations.
The Chief Minister has made it clear that public safety, especially the safety of children, will remain the government's top priority during the cold wave, and any negligence will not be tolerated.
UP Schools Closed Until January 1st Due to Severe Cold:
In view of the severe cold and plummeting temperatures, CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered the closure of all schools up to grade 12 across the state until January 1st. This order applies to schools affiliated to the CBSE, ICSE, and Uttar Pradesh Boards.
This decision was taken after reports highlighted the difficulties faced by school-going children, many of whom were battling extreme cold in the morning. Officials stated that the move was aimed at preventing health risks such as cold-related illnesses among students.
The Chief Minister stated that the safety of children cannot be compromised under any circumstances, especially in inclement weather conditions.
Officials were asked to review arrangements on the ground.
CM Yogi directed senior government and district officials to remain active on the ground and personally monitor the situation. He instructed them to visit affected areas, assess the ground situation, and ensure adequate arrangements are made in public places.
The Chief Minister emphasized that bonfires and blankets should be distributed at busy intersections, bus stands, railway stations, and other public places in every district. He warned that strict action would be taken against any lapse in relief work.
'No one should be forced to sleep in the open':
Special instructions were also issued regarding the operation of night shelters across the state. CM Yogi said that no one should be forced to sleep in the open during the severe cold.
He asked officials to ensure that all shelters are fully operational and equipped with basic amenities, including beds, blankets, proper lighting, and sanitation facilities. Officials were also asked to ensure that homeless and needy people receive shelter and relief materials promptly. Cold wave to continue, IMD issues warning
According to the Meteorological Department, severe cold is expected to continue for the next two to three days. The IMD has predicted a further drop in temperatures in 38 districts, including Lucknow, Varanasi, and Prayagraj, where the mercury is likely to remain below 10 degrees Celsius.
Dense fog is also expected in many areas, reducing visibility. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautions to avoid exposure to the cold.
Noida shrouded in dense fog, visibility almost zero:
Noida has been severely affected since Sunday evening, with the city enveloped in a thick blanket of fog. Visibility has been drastically reduced on major roads, including the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The situation is even more concerning on the Yamuna Expressway, where visibility is reported to be almost zero in several places.
Traffic movement has slowed considerably as drivers are finding it difficult to navigate through the fog, even with the use of headlights and parking lights. Both two-wheeler and four-wheeler drivers are exercising extreme caution, although the risk of accidents remains high.
Administration declares holidays for Noida schools:
Considering the biting cold and hazardous road conditions, the district administration, following instructions from the state government, has declared holidays for schools in Noida from December 29th to January 1st to ensure the safety of students.
In view of the increasing severity of the cold wave, the state administration has intensified efforts to ensure the safety, relief, and comfort of citizens during this difficult time.
