UPSC Success Stories: IAS Abhilasha Sharma's inspiring journey exemplifies determination turning dreams into reality. Hailing from Haryana and residing in Gurugram, her pursuit of becoming an IAS was marked by resilience amidst initial setbacks. Commencing her UPSC preparations in 2013, Abhilasha faced successive failures in her first three attempts, which momentarily shattered her aspirations. However, undeterred by adversity, she restored her determination, planning a rigorous study schedule and dedicating 15-16 hours daily to her preparations. Opting for Political Science and International Relations as optional subjects, she honed her skills meticulously.
Amidst her academic endeavors, Abhilasha's life took a significant turn in 2017 when she married Ankit, a businessman whom she had known since 2015. Their bond blossomed into love, culminating in marriage. Her husband and in-laws became pillars of support, offering both emotional encouragement and financial backing throughout her journey.
Abhilasha's triumphant moment arrived when she cleared the UPSC exam on her fourth attempt, clinching an impressive All India Rank of 68. Reflecting on her success, she attributed her achievements to learning from failures and addressing her weaknesses diligently. Offering invaluable advice to aspiring UPSC candidates, she emphasised the importance of incorporating newspaper reading into daily routines for current affairs preparation. Stressing the significance of NCERT books for establishing strong fundamentals, she highlighted the need for meticulous preparation in aptitude, an area where she faced challenges.
