West Bengal School Holiday: Schools, Colleges To Remain Shut Tomorrow; Details

WB School Holiday On July 6: The West Bengal government has announced a statewide public holiday on July 6, 2026, to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The decision was confirmed in a notification from the Finance Department.

Schools, colleges, state government offices, urban and rural local bodies, government corporations, state undertakings, and government-aided institutions will remain closed across West Bengal to honour Mookerjee's great contribution to the state and the entire nation.

Government Services And Academic Activities To Remain Suspended

As a result of the holiday, government services and academic activities across West Bengal will remain suspended for the day. State-run offices, municipal bodies, and educational institutions will not function, giving students, teachers, and government employees a day off to mark the occasion dedicated to Syama Prasad Mookerjee's lasting legacy.

Half-Day Holiday Was Observed Earlier On July 1 For Doctors' Day

This is not the first holiday declared by the state government this month. On July 1, West Bengal observed a half-day holiday for National Doctors' Day, commemorating former chief minister Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. Eligible government offices and educational institutions closed from the afternoon in his honour, following official orders.
