Ambikapur Assembly Election 2023: The Ambikapur Assembly segment went to the polls in two phases, November 7 and November 17, along with the 90 other Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh. The Ambikapur Assembly constituency recorded a voter turnout of 75.64 per cent. The results for the elections will be declared on December 3 along with the results for the other three states which went to polls earlier in November. The results of the Mizoram Assembly elections will be declared on December 4.
The Ambikapur constituency is one among the 90 Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh. Ambikapur is a Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Chhattisgarh and is part of the Surguja (ST) Lok Sabha constituency. Ambikapur falls in the Surguja district and North region of Chhattisgarh and is usually categorised as a rural seat.
Ambikapur Assembly Election 2023:
The BJP has fielded Rajesh Agrawal from Ambikapur, while Congress has named T. S. Singh Deo as its candidate. The total electorate encompassing the Ambikapur constituency comprises 2,25,830 eligible voters. This count is composed of 1,13,061 male voters and 1,12,744 female voters, as per the 2018 date of the Election Commission.
Ambikapur Assembly Election 2018 and 2013:
In the 2018 Ambikapur election, Congress’ T.S. Baba won the seat against BJP’s Anurag Singh Deo by a margin of 39,624 votes. Anurag Singh Deo grabbed over 60,815 votes and Congress’ T.S. Baba grabbed over 1,00,439 votes with a vote percentage of 56.19 per cent. In the 2013 election, Congress’ T S Baba emerged victorious by a margin of 19,558 votes. T S Baba managed to secure the support of 51.64 per cent of the total votes counted defeating BJP’s Anurag Singh Deo who got 39.71 per cent of votes of the total turnout.
