Chhattisgarh Election Result 2023 Highlights: In the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha Election vote counting, the Bharatiya Janta Party in a clear majority emerged victorious with 54 seats, while Congress managed to secure 35 seats. As per ECI data, the BJP crossed the halfway mark in the state while Congress is a distant second.&nbsp; The counting of votes for elections stands complete. Bhupesh Baghel submitted the resignation to the governor and now BJP is set to take charge in the state. 
The polling in the state was conducted in two phases -- November 7 and November 17. Tight security arrangements have been made in all counting centres in the state's 33 districts, including the ones affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE). 
A total of 78 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the first phase while 75.88 per cent of the total voters exercised their franchise in the second phase. A total of 1,181 candidates are in the fray, including Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo (both from Congress) and former CM Raman Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party. 
As per the exit poll predictions, the Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government in the state was set to retain the power with almost all opinion polls giving an edge to the ruling dispensation over the BJP. Of the 90 Assembly seats in the state, 51 fall in the general category, 10 are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 29 for Scheduled Tribes. Chhattisgarh is among the five states where elections were held this year including Mizoram, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
