Meanwhile, T S Singhdeo, the deputy chief minister of Chhattisgarh and a prominent party leader, claimed that the Election Commission of India had allowed little time for the first round of assembly election preparations since Congress will shortly submit its second list of candidates between October 18 and 20.

There are signs that 10 to 12 MLAs may be removed from the second list, just as eight MLAs were removed from the first list that was made public on the first day of Navratri.

The party just released a list of its 30 candidates, and the next list, which will include both new and returning faces, is anticipated to have close to 40 names.
