Pratappur Assembly Election 2023: The elections to the 90 Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh will be held later this year. The Election Commission has announced that the elections in the state of Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases, the first phase will be held on November 7 for 20 seats and the second phase will be held on November 17 for the 70 other state assembly seats.
The Pratappur constituency is one among the 90 Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh. Pratappur is a Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Chhattisgarh and is part of the Surguja (ST) Lok Sabha constituency. Pratappur falls in the Surajpur district and North region of Chhattisgarh and is usually categorised as a rural seat.
The total electorate encompassing the Pratappur constituency comprises 2,08,698 eligible voters. This count is composed of 1,05,354 male voters and 1,03,335 female voters, as per the 2018 date of the Election Commission.
Pratappur Assembly Election 2018:
In the 2018 Pratappur election, Congress’ Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam won the seat against BJP’s Ramsewak Paikra by a margin of 44,105 votes. Ramsewak Paikra grabbed over 46,043 votes and Congress’ Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam grabbed over 90,148 votes with a vote percentage of 51.70 per cent.
Pratappur Assembly Election 2013:
In the 2013 election, BJP’s Ramsevak Paikra emerged victorious by a margin of 8,143 votes. Ramsevak Paikra managed to secure the support of 41.75 per cent of the total votes counted defeating Congress’ Dr Premsai Singh Tekam who got 36.64 per cent of votes of the total turnout.
