Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: Karnataka is all set to witness the elections to its 224-member Legislative Assembly next month. The election process will take place on May 10, 2023 and the results to the same will be announced on May 13, 2023. 

Krishnaraja is one of the 8 assembly segments of the Mysore Parliament Seat. The general assembly seat is one of the 224 assembly constituencies in the state of Karnataka.

There are 30% Bramhin, 12% Lingayat, 8% Kuruba Voters in the Krishnaraja constituency. SA Ramadas of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the seat in 2018. 

Krishnaraja Assembly Election 2023 Candidate List

The key candidates for the Krishnaraja assembly election have already been announced. From Janata Dal (JD(S)), Mallesh will be contesting the elections. MK Somashekara has been announced as the Congress candidate, while BJP has decided to move from standing MLA SA Ramadas to party city president Srivatsa.

Krishnaraja Assembly Election 2023

SA Ramadas was denied the ticket to Krishnaraja assembly constituency, causing a major uproar in BJP. Party city president Srivatsa will be contesting the elections this time. Though Ramadas said he won't rebel against the party, he has refused to meet any party leaders after the major disappointment.

In an interview with Times of India, Srivatsa reflected about contesting elections and said, “Though this is my first electoral battle, I have closely seen electoral battles and worked for the party in about 19 different elections, including assembly, parliament, corporation, and legislative council, in the last few decades.”

Krishnaraja Assembly Election 2018

SA Ramadas has won the Krishnaraja assembly seat in 2018 and 2008. The BJP leader won the elections by a margin of 26,347 votes and got 78,573 votes. Congress’ M K Somashekar was the runner-up and secured 52,226 votes, while JD(S) Mallesh K V got 11,607 votes.

The voter turnout in the 2018 assembly elections was 59.55%.
