Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: The 224-member Legislative Assembly of Karnataka will be undergoing elections next month. The voting will take place on May 10, 2023 and the results will be announced on May 13, 2023. 

One of the 8 assembly segments of Mysore Parliament Seat, Hunsur is one of the 224 assembly constituencies in the state of Karnataka. The general category assembly seat has approximately 42,820 SC voters, which is around 18.87% as per the Census of 2011. The ST voters make up for 37,442 of the population, which is around 16.5% as per the 2011 Census.

Hunsur Assembly Election 2023 Candidate List

The candidates for the Hunsur Assembly Election 2023 have already been announced. This year, Harish Gowda from JD(S), H.P. Manjunath from Indian National Congress (INS) and Devarahalli Somashekhar from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be contesting the elections.

Hunsur Assembly Election 2023

As per the 2019 Parliament Elections, the number of polling booths of Hunsur assembly are 274. The total voters in the constituency are 2,21,361 voters, out of which 1,11,634 are male and 1,09,665 are females. Approximately 82% of the population is rural, while the remaining are urban voters. JD(S) will be looking forward to another tenure in the assembly constituency in the upcoming election.

Hunsur Assembly Election 2018

In 2018, the voter turnout of Hunsur assembly was 83.04%. Adaguru H. Vishwanath from JD(S) won the election in the last assembly polls with 34.07% votes, while Congress’ H.P. Manjunath was the runner-up with 30.88% votes.

However, in 2019, the Hunsur Assembly seat fell vacant after several MLAs from the Congress and JD(S) parties rebelled and defected to the BJP to bring down the coalition government. Congress’ H.P. Manjunath then won the by-election and was elected to the seat by a margin of 39,727. The Congress candidate had previously won the Hunsur Assembly seat in 2013 and 2008.
