Karnataka Election Result 2023: Kunigal (Gen) is one among the 224 Assembly constituencies in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly located in the Tumkur district of the southern part of the state. It is a segment of the Bangalore Rural Parliamentary/Lok Sabha constituency.
This year, Karnataka is witnessing a direct fight between the ruling BJP and the main opposition Congress. While BJP is banking high on PM Modi's popularity and the double-engine government narrative, the Congress has raked up corruption as the main issue in the run-up for the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023.
Kunigal Assembly Election 2023:
Election to the Kunigal assembly was held on May 10, while the results for the polling will be declared on May 13. The Kunigal constituency has a total of 1,88,580 voters, which consist of general voters, NRI voters, and service voters.

Out of these, 95,585 are male, 92,915 are female, and 18 belong to other genders. The sex' ratio of voters in the constituency is 97.15, and the estimated literacy rate is around 69 per cent.
This year, the ruling BJP has reposed its faith on D Krishna Kumar, who has been fielded for the second consecutive time by the saffron brigade. Congress, whereas, has fileded incumbent MLA HD Ranganath who is seeking a second term on the Kunigal seat. The local party JD(S) has fielded D Nagarajaiah from the Kunigal seat.
Kunigal Assembly Election 2018:
In the 2018 Assembly Elections in Karnataka, Congress' HD Ranganath won the Kunigal assembly constituency by a margin of over 5,000 votes. He defeated BJP's D Krishna Kumar, who had garnered over 53,000 votes.
In the 2013 Karnataka Assembly Elections, JDS emerged victorious in this constituency with a lead of 9,632 votes (which is 6.76 per cent of the total votes cast). They secured 31.27 per cent of the total votes polled. In that year, the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 83.45 per cent.
This constituency was won by INC in the 2008 Assembly Elections with a lead of 13,794 votes, which is 11.43 per cent of the total votes polled. They secured 39.92 per cent of the votes. The 2018 elections in this constituency recorded a voter turnout of 83.79 per cent.
