KARNATAKA Election Result 2023: The polling of the 224-member Legislative Assembly in Karnataka was held on May 10 in a single phase while the results was declared on May 13. Over 3,000 candidates are in the fray for the Assembly polls in Karnataka.

The Nagthan Assembly seat is one of 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka. It comes under the Bijapur Lok Sabha constituency. It will witness a close contest between Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is looking to come back.

When it comes to Nagthan, this constituency plays an important role for JD(S). The present sitting MLA s of Nagthan Assembly Constituency is Devanand Fulasing Chavan who will be challenged by Vitthal Katakadhond, a candidate for Congress for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Election 2023.

Nagthan Assembly Election 2023:

In the 2023 Assembly election, Congress fielded Vitthal Katakadhond whereas Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given a ticket to Sanjeev Aihole while Janata Dal (Secular) fielded Devanand Fulasing Chavan, who is seeking another term from this seat. In 2018, He won from the Nagthan constituency against a Congress candidate in 2028. The new entrant, Aam Admi Party (AAP) has chosen Guru Chavan.

Nagthan Assembly Election 2018:

In the 2018 Assembly election, Devanand Fulasing Chavan, candidate of JD (S) won this Nagthan seat by defeating Congress’ candidate Katakdhonda Vitthal Dhondiba with a margin of 5601 votes.

Out of 2,60,452 electors, 1,76,110 voters turned out which included general voters, NRI voters, and service voters in 2018. Among the general voters, 92,535 were male and 82,722 were female. According to the Election Commission of India, the constituency witnessed a 67.62 per cent voter turnout.
